Barbara was born on January 4, 1943, and lived a life defined by service, hard work, and devotion to her family and community. She worked for several years as a dental hygienist in Carbon Hill, Alabama, where she cared for patients with compassion while working under Dr. David Aswell.

Alongside her beloved husband, Merlyn Guthrie, Barbara served the Walker County community for approximately 15 years as the owner and operator of Guthrie's Homestyle Cooking, a place remembered not only for its home-cooked meals, but for the warmth, kindness, and hospitality she shared with everyone who walked through the door.

Barbara found joy in simple pleasures, especially crappie fishing on the Alabama River, where she enjoyed peaceful days surrounded by nature.

She was preceded in death by her Father-Gene Huggins; Mother-Ruth Huggins; Sister-Joyce Haynes; and Stepdaughter-Phyllis Guthrie.

She is survived by her Husband-Merlyn Guthrie; her Daughters-Vicki and Sheri NeSmith; Stepson-Chris Guthrie; Grandchildren-Cashen Moore, Cody McClemore, Nicholas Guthrie; Great grandchildren-Kaleesi, Cash, Million, Noah; her Brother-Tom Huggins; and her Sisters-Jane Walker, Connie Keeton, and Tammie Huggins Basting.

The family finds comfort in knowing that Barbara has been welcomed into Heaven, reunited with loved ones who went before her, and is now resting peacefully in God's eternal care.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Becky Winborne, Eveline Nkea, and the compassionate staff at Regency Health Care in Huntsville, Alabama, for the exceptional care and kindness shown to Barbara.

Barbara will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
