Barbara L. Hardiek, 86, of Teutopolis, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, with a 3:30 pm CCW rosary. Memorial donations may be given to the CIDP Foundation, St. Francis Catholic Church, or the Marine Corps Protection League which provides wheelchairs and ramps for veterans and their families.
Barbara was born May 3, 1937, in Sigel, the daughter of Frank and Mary (Willenborg) Holkenbrink. She married Kenneth Hardiek on August 9, 1958. Barbara loved country music, dancing, nature, gardening, canning, decorating, and showing others love with her humor and giving spirit. Her faith was her biggest gift.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Kenneth; children: Mary Ann Joy, Marcia (Bryan) Plummer, Martha (Jerry) Thomas, William Hardiek, Melissa (Wayne) Cox, and Kathy (Mike) Robinson; sister, Loretta Krampe; fifteen grandchildren, Benjamin, Kim, Kerie, Kelly, Jennifer, Nicole, Jennifer, Rebecca, Justin, Jon, Elijah, Chloe, Spencer, Lauren, and Isabelle; thirteen great-grandchildren: Lianne, Casin, Clarabelle, Rayann, Victor, Vincent, Olivia, Scarlett, Harper, Tiffany, Ben, Jared, and George; many great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Margaret Fosbender, Henry Holkenbrink, Elisabeth Sarff, Albert Holkenbrink, Anna McMahon, Mary Rose Villella, Frances Buehnerkemper, and Clara Mettendorf; son-in-law, Danny; grandsons, Chris and Kavin; two great-grandchildren.
