Barbara Jean Stott Harris, 92, of the Montford Cove Community, passed away Friday, April 4, 2025 at Oak Grove Healthcare Center.
She was born in Rutherford County on July 20, 1932 to the late Miles Stott and Inez Minish Stott.
Mrs. Harris was a longtime, faithful member of Montford Cove Baptist Church where she formerly served as a Sunday School teacher. She was very active with the Whitehouse Community Club and had at one time served as President. She will be remembered for her wonderful cooking skills that she shared with family and friends alike. Her homemade sausage, biscuits, and livermush were staples in her home and at the Whitehouse Community Center. Barbara owned and operated Harris Lumber Company for over 30 years with her late husband. She will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Harris; son, John Paul Harris; daughter, Ann Rhymer; brother, Cecil Stott; grandson, Stephen Wesley Rhymer; and one great-grandson.
She is survived by her son, Charles Harris (Camelia); daughter, Revonda Jane Harris; four grandchildren, Casey, Levi, Stephanie, and John Paul; a number of great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Lewis Stott (Joyce), Betty Harrison (Mr. T), Bill Stott (Ellen), and Wade Stott.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Montford Cove Baptist Church with her grandson, John Paul Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the church.
