Barbara Ann Harris was born September 21, 1958, to the late Edith Bell and Robert Henry Harris in Baltimore, MD. Sadly, departing her earthly life on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.Barbara was the second oldest of five siblings, Louise the eldest, Roberta, Janet, and Robert. As a child Barbara was the big boss, always taking charge, and constantly making jokes. She was always interested in creating and doing things, especially if it brought joy to others. She cherished good friendships, had a passion for education, loved music, and enjoyed a great party.Barbara received Christ at an early age, attending Sunday school and church services at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She deeply loved the Lord, enjoyed reading the Word, and maintaining a close and faithful relationship with God throughout her life. She was an active member of St. Edwards Blessed Mother Sodality for many years and served as an usher at several churches she attended. Barbara also enjoyed religious plays and once portrayed Mary in a church play during Sunday school. She was a devout and prayerful woman, a true prayer warrior who lived her faith wholeheartedly.Barbara started her educational studies at the Baltimore City Public Schools. She graduated from Samuel Gompers High School in 1978. After graduating high school, Barbara attended the Baltimore City Community College in 1982, where she obtained her Nursing Assistant certification. During her career as a CNA, she worked for various institutions including Catholic Charities, several hospitals, and nursing homes. Barbara always enjoyed helping people and always strived to be the best at whatever she did. She had a deep love for helping and caring for the elderly, always stepping in to support family members whenever they needed her. Her compassion and dedication made her a source of comfort and strength for those around her. There wasnt a soul that met Barbara that didnt fall in love with her infectious personality, love of life, joyful banter, and uplifting spirit.It was during her time as a CNA that she developed the skills she would later use to care for elderly family members, including her mother, who was diagnosed with Alzheimers disease. Through this journey, she became involved with the Alzheimers Association, forming a deep connection with the cause. Barbara became a passionate advocate, tirelessly reaching out to family, friends, and confidants each year to raise funds for the annual Alzheimers walks, ensuring continued support for research and awareness.Barbara also volunteered at the House of Ruth, dedicating her time to helping women and children in need. Each year, her family would adopt a mother and her children, providing them with Christmas gifts and essential items to ensure they had a joyful holiday season. Always engaged in charitable activities, Barbara had a deep passion for giving and helping others from a young age. She was committed to visiting the sick in hospitals and homes and actively participated in various community events, always striving to make a difference in the lives of those around her.Barbara had many passions and a deep love for creating things for others. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, crafting, crocheting, and upholstery, even taking a class with Aunt Emily to perfect her skills. Using her hands to make heartfelt gifts brought her joy. She also had a love for motorcycles, often riding with her father, brother and other motorcycle enthusiasts. Her adventurous spirit extended to race cars, bull riding events, and concerts. She especially loved drag racing, often taking weekend trips to see the races in Southern Maryland. Cooking was another passion, she enjoyed learning new recipes, often experimenting with different ingredients, but it always came out good, and helping her mother in the kitchen. She also developed a talent for making floral arrangements. Barbara cherished time with family, spending summers at her grandparents' home and treasuring moments with her aunts, uncles, and cousins. She had a deep love for everyone around her, always embracing life with enthusiasm and warmth.Barbara is preceded in death by both of her parents Edith and Robert Harris, sisters Louise and Margaret, brother-in-law, Charles Banks, nephew, Joseph Miller, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and several cousins. Barbara leaves to cherish her memory, her brother Robert (Kelly), sisters Janet (Larry), Roberta, Jeane, Roberta and close cousin Thomas (Dawn). Goddaughter Crystal Banks; Nieces: Rashonda, Tuesday, and Nicole. Nephews: Bobby, Maurice, Loden, and Joshua. Great niece and nephews: Kortni, Amari, Cameryn, and Ava; a host of cousins, close and distant relatives, longtime friends, Church family, and former co-workers.
