Barbara Muriel Hawkins (nee Spilker), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Friday, November 7, 2025, at the age of 84. Cherished daughter of the late Herman William Spilker and Ella Dorthea Newcomb; devoted mother of Charlie (the late Debbie) Brush, Laura Brush, and John Brush; loving grandmother of Chris Bennett-Brush, Zach (Kristin) Bennet-Brush, Arturo (Joy) Moreno, Nick Brush (Catherine), Heather Brush, Ryan Overby, Mercedes Chavez, and DJ Chavez; great-grandmother of Kyle, Mckayla, Xavier, Naomi, Leliana, and Riku; dear sister of Becky (Kenny) Tackett and Beverly Bird; loving aunt, cousin, and friend to many, many more. Barbara is preceded in death by her two husbands, Raymond C Brush, Lloyd Dean Hawkins, and her daughter, Sandy (the late Randy) Overby.
Barbara grew up on a farm, where she began her lifelong adventure of fearlessly pursuing new interests and experiences. Known affectionately as “the person in charge,” she faced life with boldness and confidence while remaining remarkably generous. A talented and creative spirit, Barbara expressed her artistry through crochet, cross-stitching, and stained glass. She loved to travel and camp, visiting every state in the U.S., except Alaska, as well as many countries across Europe and Asia, though her favorite destination was Lost Valley Lake in Missouri, where she enjoyed spending time in her RV. A lifelong animal lover, Barbara shared her home with many beloved pets who brought her great joy and companionship. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Barbara's name to Society of St. Vincent De Paul.
