Barbara Jean Henderson, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Canon City, Colorado, at the age of 91. Born in Salida, Colorado to Adolf and Elizabeth Floryancic on May 18, 1934, Barbara graduated from Salida High School in 1952. She married Donald R. Bess in November 1957, and together they had four children. Later in life, she found love again and married Jerry Ray Henderson on December 9, 1977, with whom she shared 47 years. Barbara was a dedicated bookkeeper, working for the local Chevrolet dealership for 27 years. Her commitment and excellence earned her the title of honorary accountant from GMC-a testament to her hard work and integrity. Outside of work, Barbara lived life with vibrant enthusiasm. She was an avid bowler, competing in tournaments throughout the years, and a talented crocheter whose handmade blankets warmed many hearts and homes. She and Jerry shared a love for dancing, often attending events at the local Elks Lodge, where Barbara could be heard singing along to her favorite polkas. After marrying Jerry, she became a devoted Denver Broncos fan, cheering passionately alongside him during every game. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Jerry, her parents Adolf and Elizabeth, and her brother Adolf Joseph "Sonny" Floryancic. She is survived by her four children: Pam Ashley, Dede (Tom) Hemmings, Renee (Kevin) Thonhoff, and Doug (Robin) Bess; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1st at 1:30 p.m. to celebrate Barbara's life and the joy she brought to all who knew her.
