Barbara Dawkins Hodges, 80, of Rockingham, completed her earthly journey on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Mrs. Hodges was born September 24,1944 in Scotland County, a daughter of the late Elijah Claude and Katie Mae Rozier Dawkins. She retired from Walmart after over 20 years of service. She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens and canning those vegetables after harvest. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Wesley “Buck” Hodges, son, Richard McIntyre, Jr., siblings, Charles Dawkins, James Dawkins, and Sylvia Peterson.
Surviving are her children, Clay McIntyre (Shannon), Runa Chavis and Prestie Smith; grandchildren, Tara Andrews, Halie Workman, Ashleigh McLean, Samantha McIntyre, Ricky McIntyre, Chris Chavis, Brittany Chavis, Aaron Henry, Sam Smith Jr, Brianna Smith; 11 great grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and half-sisters, Rita Hurst and Brenda Hopkins.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Carter Funeral Home in Rockingham with Rev. Charlie Tyler officiating. Interment will follow in Nebo Wesleyan Church Cemetery.
The family will greet friends from 11:45-12:45 Tuesday at the funeral home.
