Barbara Hogan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rossell Funeral Home - Flushing on Jan. 29, 2026.
Barbara Hogan, age 77, of Flushing, MI, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2026. She was born on September 24, 1948.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Flushing Presbyterian Church, 5010 N. McKinley Road, followed by a lunch. Pastor Paul Pfeuffer will officiate. Family and friends will gather at the church from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of service.

Barbara was the devoted wife of Kip Hogan, with whom she shared nearly 56 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family. She was a proud mother of three and a deeply cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and purpose. Known for her sharp sense of humor and quick wit, she could light up a room with a perfectly timed comment or a knowing smile. She loved her family more than anything and showed that love through her constant presence, encouragement, and unwavering support. Whether it was traveling, playing bridge, enjoying games with her family, or cheering at her grandchildren's activities, she was happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved. She was also an extraordinary friend; empathetic, compassionate, and always ready to listen. Her kindness extended far beyond her family, touching everyone fortunate enough to know her. A woman of faith, she served both her community and the Lord through her dedication and work at the Flushing Presbyterian church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Margaret Bonhardt, her in-laws W.D. and Billie Hogan. She is survived by her husband, Kip Hogan, her daughters Terri and Jim Walter, Lisa and Brian Smith, and Christy and Phil Hutchinson, eight grandchildren, Maddie, Caton, and Hogan Walter, Payton, Sophie, Carson and Reese Smith, and Harper Hutchinson, her brother Robert Bonhardt, sister-in-law, Kim and Chuck Watson, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her warmth, humor, and love.

We became friends as a couple with Barb and Kip in 1970 before we were married in 1971. We enjoyed spending time together playing bridge and sharing special times together in Battle Creek. We continued sharing Christmas cards with each other after they moved away from Battle Creek and reconnected in person after COVID. It felt like we had never been away from each other after so many years! We are deeply saddened with the loss of our friend, Barb, and will cherish our memories of spending time with her and Kip.
