Barbara Jean Hurst

Barbara Jean Hurst, 81, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2025 in Blackfoot, Idaho.

Barbara was born December 6, 1943 in Pocatello, Idaho to James W. and Ruby Parrish Jensen.

Other than the 12 years she spent married to a Navy man, Barbara spent most of her life in the Blackfoot area. During those 12 years, she moved 13 times. She grew up in the Rockford/Pingree area where she attended schools. She graduated from Snake River High School. She continued her education at Idaho State University for two years, and also studied at Olympic State College in Bremerton WA.

She married Dennis LeRoy Hurst. To this union, two children, William Harrison and Amy Lee were born; they later divorced.

Barbara worked in home health care for 13 years.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in numerous and varied callings.

During her school years, she loved playing in the band and orchestra. She always enjoyed camping and visiting with people.

Barbara is survived by her children, William Harrison (Kimberly) Hurst and Amy Lee (Jay) Johnson; brother Harvey (Marina) Jensen and sister Donna (Charles) Mitchell; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruby Parrish Jensen, brother Blaine Jensen and a grandson A.J. Hurst.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2025 at the Riverside-Thomas Cemetery. Prior to the graveside service, family will meet with friends at 9:00 a.m. at the Hawker Funeral Home.
