Cobleskill- Barbara Janakis, 82, formerly of Cobleskill, NY passed away August 28, 2023 at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, NY.
Born August 4, 1941 in Brooklyn NY, she was the daughter of Malcolm and Gean (Szkotnicki) Haggerty. Barbara was a longtime resident of Cobleskill.
She was a longtime employee of Cobleskill Regional Hospital. Barbara loved traveling and going for long motorcycle rides with her husband, John. She always loved cooking for her family and friends.
She was a communicant of St. Vincent de Paul's Catholic Church.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, John Janakis of 61 years, her son, John E. Janakis, her parents, Malcolm & Gean Haggerty; and her brother, Richard Haggerty.
Survivors include her son, Darren (Becky) Janakis; daughter in law, Valarie Janakis; sister, Marilyn (Joseph) Emanuele; brother, Gary (Penny) Haggerty; sister-in-law, Mary Haggerty and sister-in-law, Agnes Stage; her grandchildren: John, Alexandrea, Allison, Kathleen, William, Alex and Madison and step-grandchildren: Joshua, Elliott, and Jacob; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend an extra thank you for her sister, Marilyn and niece, Marlo and her lifetime friend, Delores Banks for their care and support.
Family and friends are invited to a period of visitation to be held from 4PM to 6PM on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023 at Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, 171 Elm St., Cobleskill. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10:00AM at St. Mary's Cemetery in Kingston.
Those wishing to make a memorial contribution in Barbara's memory may donate to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 138 Washington Ave., Cobleskill, NY 12043.
