Pauline Jane (Paonessa) Janakis, 84, of Penn Hills, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Beloved wife of the late John G. Janakis. Loving mother of Ross (Wendy) Janakis, Lisa (William) Purnell, John M. Janakis; grandmother of Michael & Mario Janakis, Erin (Shea Matthews) Purnell, and Kayla Purnell; great-grandmother to Giana and Chase Matthews; sister of Patrick Paonessa; also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Pauline is preceded in death by two brothers, Frankie and Michael Paonessa, Jr. and four sisters, Frances Bakos, Josephine Paonessa, Marie Antoinette, and Thomasina Frances. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, 12/6/2023, from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 7 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747), Inurnment will take place at the Mount Hope Cemetery Columbarium, 12707 Frankstown Rd, Penn Hills, PA 15235, on Saturday, 12/9/2023, at 11 a.m. THOSE WISHING TO ATTEND THE INURNMENT, PLEASE GATHER AT THE CEMETERY. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Phipp's Conservatory, One Schenley Park, Pittsburgh, PA 15213-3830. The family would like to thank the teams at UPMC East, Transitions, and The Family Hospice at Canterbury Place for their exceptional care during this difficult time.
