Mrs. Barbara Jean “Sis” Gibson, age 86, entered into rest on Monday, January 15, 2024 with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, January 18, 2024 from the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home by Pastor Michael Davis, Pastor Donald Deal, and Pastor Tony Edwards with burial to follow in the Ruby Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son, Calvin & Lisa Gibson.
The services will be live-streamed on the Miller Rivers Caulder Funeral Home Facebook page.
Mrs. Gibson was born August 5, 1937 in Stanley County, NC a daughter of the late Bebe Jerome and Mary Jane Taylor Morton. She was a dedicated homemaker and a faithful life-long member of Ruby Church of God. Sis enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, crafting, and was a delicious cook. A lady who loved her family deeply, Mrs. Gibson was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gibson was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Devoid Gibson; great grandson, Gibson Cole Edwards; and siblings, Jimmy Lee Morton, Mary Helen “Nick” Mills, Elizabeth “Sister” Watson, and Myrtle Mills.
Survivors include her children, Carolyn (Pastor Tony) Edwards of Six Mile, SC, Calvin Devoid (Lisa) Gibson of Chesterfield, SC, Lisa Gibson (Scott) Owens of Ruby, SC, Earl Dale (Kerry) Gibson of Chesterfield, SC; grandchildren, Barbara Earleen (Jonathan) Lamb, Jonathan Daniel (Allie) Edwards, Haley Gibson (Jessica) Koebel, Calvin Joshua “C.J.” Devoid (Mackenzie) Gibson, Brandon Scott (Sarah Ruth) Owens, Jordan Blaine Owens, Devon Devoid Gibson, and Caitlyn Faye Gibson; great grandchildren, Chloe (Matthew), Noah, Tiffany (Chris), Kody, Ella, Jason, Bronson, Emerson, and one soon to be arriving; siblings, Bobby (Joann) Morton, Vance (Linda Rose) Morton, Linda Hurst, Samp Morton, Brenda (Tommy) Shaw, B.J. (Judy) Morton, and Janice Morton; special friend, Susie Griffith; in addition to generations of nieces and nephews.
