Barbara Ann (Buhler) Jennings, affectionately known as Bobbie to all who knew and loved her, completed her earthly journey on October 11, 2025, in
Edmond, Oklahoma. Born on a sunny day in Red Wing, Minnesota, on July 24, 1946, Bobbie's life was a testament to the power of joy, resilience, and a bit of humor, even in the face of life's challenges.
Bobbie's early life in Pine Island set the stage for a woman of remarkable character and strength. She graduated from Pine Island High School in 1964, showing early signs of the determination that would define her life. Her patriotic spirit led her to proudly enlist in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. It was during her service that she discovered the vastness of our world, as her travels took her to many different countries, enriching her perspective and nurturing an open heart for people of all walks of life.
After her service, Bobbie's thirst for knowledge and her desire to help others led her to the University of Oklahoma, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Her passion for healing did not stop at her own education; she became an instructor in the PT program at OU and was instrumental in starting the PT program at Langston University. As a pioneer in pediatric physical therapy, Bobbie touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of care and compassion that will live on in her students and patients.
Bobbie was a strong Christian woman who lived her faith through her actions, always extending a helping hand, positive encouragement and a warm smile to those in need. Her creativity knew no bounds. A masterful craftsman, artist, woodworker, and seamstress, she could often be found in her workshop, covered in sawdust or paint, working on her latest masterpiece. Her baked goods were legendary; her homemade sweet rolls and butter horns were hot commodities at any church dinner. With a tool belt that would make any handyman envious, Bobbie claimed she could fix anything from leaky faucets to broken hearts, although she always maintained that she was still working on perfecting the latter.
Bobbie's warmth and generosity were as abundant as her talents. She was the embodiment of love, always giving of herself to her family, friends, and community. Her generosity was endless, and her sense of humor could lighten the heaviest of hearts. Her greatest joy was giving to others, her family and her patients. Her grandchildren were truly the beat of her heart.
She is survived by her daughter Erin Crabb Osmus, son Johnathan Crabb, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and siblings who will forever cherish her memory. Preceded in death by her parents, John and Marie Buhler, siblings Al Buhler, Will Buhler, Helly Gritzner, and her son-in-law Jeff Osmus, Bobbie leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and the compassion of a woman who could conquer the world with her giving spirit.
As we bid farewell to Barbara Ann Jennings, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life that will continue to inspire and bring joy to those who were fortunate enough to have been a part of her journey. Bobbie's story does not end here; it lives on in the memories we carry and the love we share, a reminder that even when the final curtain falls, the show must go on.
A celebration of life will be held for Barbara at a later date.
