Barbara Alice Jones, a beacon of love and resilience, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, in her hometown of
San Angelo, Texas, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on February 25, 1956, to George Emory Teague Sr. and Sally LaRee Garrick Teague, Barbara's life was a tapestry of devotion to her family, a commitment to her community, and a passion for life's simple pleasures.
Barbara's childhood in San Angelo set the foundation for a life filled with love and laughter. She graduated from Lake View High School in 1974, embodying the spirit of both a scholar and a friend to all. Her early years were marked by a zest for the outdoors, where she often could be found camping and riding horses, a pastime that brought her great joy and freedom.
Her life journey led her to cross paths with Grover Earl "Buster" Jones, and their love story was one for the ages. Married on June 26, 1981, they built a life together founded on mutual respect and unwavering support. Bradley Justin (born 1983) and Brittney JoAnna born (1993), their beloved children, were the center of Barbara's universe. She embraced her role as a stepmother to Bridget Janell Carr with the same warmth and affection. Grandchildren Beau, Bryce, Hannah, Ashlynn, Riley, Chris and Sally Rose, as well as great-granddaughter Kehlani, added immeasurable joy to her life. Barbara's love for her family was her most enduring legacy.
Her siblings, George Emory "Buddy" Teague Jr. (Deborah), Robert Arnold Teague (Kathy), Dilmus Eugene Teague and Louise Teague Alderson (Scott) shared in Barbara's life journey, filled with memorable moments and unwavering bonds. They stood by her side through the highs and lows, each playing a unique role in the story of her life. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, George Emory Teague Sr. and Sally LaRee Garrick Teague, as well as her siblings Molly Inez Teague, Lorena Elaine Teague Canoy, Lynn Ann Teague, and her nephew Paul Edward Teague. Also, Father and Mother-in-law, Buford Ray and Cora Rose Jones. Each left an indelible mark on her heart and in her memories.
Professionally, Barbara dedicated her career to the Boy Scouts, serving as a registrar since 1994, where her meticulous nature and commitment to service shone brightly. Her work was more than a job; it was an extension of her desire to contribute to the growth and character-building of young individuals in her community.
A devout Christian, Barbara's faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's trials and tribulations with grace and fortitude. Her spirit was a testament to her belief in compassion, kindness, and the power of prayer.
Barbara's interests were as varied as they were endearing. Her love for reading offered her a gateway to other worlds, while her affinity for puzzle books kept her mind sharp and engaged. Yet, it was the time spent with her grandchildren that truly captured the essence of her joy. Each moment spent with them was a treasure, filled with lessons, laughter, and love.
Barbara was an active member of Twin Mountain Riding Club where she held many offices throughout the years. Although she did not ride much later in life, she enjoyed announcing and doing the time keeping for the playdays. The club became an extension of her family, and she loved watching everyone ride and getting to catch up with everyone at the playdays and club meetings.
As we bid farewell to Barbara Alice Jones, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the time we were gifted with her presence. Her legacy of love, resilience, and spirited joy will continue to live on through the lives of those she touched. Barbara's story is not one of an ending, but a lasting inspiration that will guide us always.
As a family, we extend our sincere gratitude to Hospice of San Angelo and their dedicated and caring staff for helping our family through this incredibly difficult time. Their care and compassion brought relief and comfort, not only to Barbara but to our whole family.
