Barbara Josephine Juchno, age 61, of Erie, PA., passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on Thursday December 29, 2022. She was born on March 19, 1961 in Erie, PA., the second child of Theresa (Kantorowski) Juchno and the late Chester (Doc) Juchno.
Barb was a 1979 graduate of East High School in Erie, earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Gannon University, and a master's degree in biochemistry from the University of South Carolina. She taught chemistry at Penn State Behrend and Gannon University before working twenty-five years at Microbac Testing Labs in Erie. Barb had been an active parishioner and sacristan at St. Hedwig Catholic church and was currently a member of Mother of Sorrows.
Barb was a loving mother and caregiver for her beautiful daughter Amanda who was taken away far too soon at the age of 24. She continued to show her love for her family by being a live-in caretaker for her mother for the past several years. She treasured and spoiled her many nephews, great nieces and great nephews, friends' children and neighborhood children. Her generosity even continued after her death with the gift of her organs to those in need. Barb loved all the Pittsburgh teams (Go Penguins, Steelers and Pirates!) and treasured the Michael Stanley Band and the Christmas Story movie. She also loved gardening, The Big Bang Theory, playful cheating at games, Columbo, Monk and Diet Pepsi. But most especially she loved family and friends and would do anything for them.
Survivors include her mother Theresa Juchno of Erie, PA., siblings Patti Williams (Tim) of Clarkesville, GA., Dave Juchno (Beckie) of Hanover, PA., and Ann Juchno of Dayton, OH., and the love of her life Rod Showers of Erie, PA. Also nephews Benji Williams (Ashley) of Buford, GA., Robbie Williams (Meredith) of Rome, GA., Cal Williams (Alex) of Atlanta, GA., Matt Juchno of York, PA., and Sam Williams (Ann) of Monroe, GA. Also great nieces and nephews Dayt, Henry, George, Mattie and Eloise.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Amanda Hermann Juchno, and her father Chester Juchno.
Friends and family may call on Friday, January 6, at the Kloecker-Bailey Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. 4396 Iroquois Ave. Erie, PA 16511. from 3pm until 7pm, and are invited to the Funeral Service at the Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, at 9:15am, followed by the Funeral Mass at 10am at St. Casimir Church, 629 Hess Ave. Entombment will follow at Calvary Mausoleum. Send condolences to www.kloeckerfuneralhome.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children's Erie (donate.lovetotherescue.org).

Dearest Barb, as the tears are being shed, you were always there for the family and friends through good times and bad, always checking in on how the family was doing.
I know Amanda is greeting you with Pittsburgh attire!
Rest in peace Barb, you will be missed.
