Barbara M. Lalevee, age 87 years, of Flemington, NJ and Pinecrest, FL, passed away Tuesday, December 17, 2024, in Pinecrest.
Born in Passaic, NJ, July 1, 1937, she was the daughter of the late William and Helena Beecher McWalters, and had resided in Flemington, NJ for many years. Upon her retirement, Barbara split her time between NJ and Pinecrest and became an active volunteer at both Fairchild and Pinecrest Gardens. She additionally volunteered with her friends in Pinecrest at their local Farmers Market where they sold smoothies made with mangoes from her Florida property. Throughout her life, Barbara enjoyed spending time with her NJ & Florida friends and family, and was a voracious reader.
She was a graduate of Montclair State Teachers College, where she received her BA and MA degrees. In addition to her formal education, Barbara was a lifelong learner who kept teaching in her volunteer roles way past retirement.
Barbara was a dedicated educator, a mathematics and science teacher for many years at Hunterdon Central Regional High School, Flemington, NJ, until her retirement in 2004.
Barbara was a member, former elder and deacon of the Flemington Presbyterian Church; the Order of the Eastern Star; Pinecrest Presbyterian Church; and the National Education Association.
Barbara was pre-deceased by her brother, Dr. William McWalters and her sister, Dr. Beverly Gagilone, who both died in 2017.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Lynda Lalevee of Raleigh, NC; her daughter, Wendy McCall of Wilmington, DE; and her five grandchildren, John Lalevee, Sam Lalevee, and Madeline Lalevee, Alexander McCall and Nathan McCall.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 1:00 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Visitation will be Friday, December 27, 2024, 11:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
