Barbara E. Larkin

Barbara Larkin, 80, of Milford, passed Monday January 26 after a brief illness. She departed at her home surrounded by family. Barbara was born July 21, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri and grew up a military brat on Air Force bases throughout the United States and Europe. She was a 1963 graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Virginia. Barbara was a career administrator, working as a paralegal for many years before joining the administrative team at the Yale University School Of Nursing where she won an award of appreciation by the student body while serving as Assistant To The Dean and helping students secure financial aid before retiring in 2008. Barbara was a lifelong lover of music and performance and was a skilled piano player and singer. She loved live performance be it music, theater, or musical theater. She was a self-professed foodie and lover of cheap wine (especially sangria and moscato), she enjoyed travelling all over the world. As a staunch feminist, she was extremely active in Womens' Rights causes and outspoken in matters of social justice. She marched, she campaigned, and she fought for what she believed and what she felt was right. She adored her grandchildren and was affectionately known to them as "Babs." Barbara is survived by her husband of 50 years Elias, her sons Aaron (Erika) and Seth (Natasha,) her daughter Rabbi Rachel Wiesenberg (Jonathan,) her grandchildren Izzakhar and Sophia Larkin and Hunter and Reed Wiesenberg, her brother Robert Sobelman (Elaine) and sister Randi Sobelman, and several nephews. Per her request, charitable donations should be made to Planned Parenthood or URJ Eisner Camp Scholarship Fund.
