Barbara Marana Allshouse Wilgus Latourelle passed away on August 10, 2024, after a short illness.
Barbara was born in Hartford, CT in 1940 and grew up in Granby, CT with her brother Allen and parents, Gleason and Katherine (Lazlo) Allshouse.
She attended Granby schools where she walked to a 2-room schoolhouse with her brother, Mount St Joseph Academy in West Hartford and then went on to Palomar College in California. She was a Physical Education teacher in Westfield, MA in the early 1960's.
Barbara then became the owner and operator of Sunnyside Campground in Westfield, MA with her former husband, Hank Wilgus for over 25 years. Together, they grew Sunnyside to be a place of great memories for all who camped there. She was a past president of the National Association of Campground Owners and then became a Realtor in the Westfield / Southwick, MA area.
Barbara later married Ron Latourelle, whom she met while golfing, and went to work for Evergreen Insurance Company. She and Ron traveled and adventured around the country with Ron at the helm of their live-aboard motorhome, visiting campgrounds she insured. They then made the permanent move to Flagler Beach, FL to enjoy the Sunshine State.
After Ron passed in 2007, Barbara continued her Real Estate career in Florida.
Barbara loved being on or near the water, travel (especially road trips), animals and a good frozen margarita with salt. She was an avid golfer for most of her life and won her parking spot more than a few times! She also loved her "chowder chat" lunches with her brother, Allen.
She was a very vibrant and active woman who enjoyed life to the fullest.
Barbara is survived by her beloved brother, Allen Charles Allshouse, Niece Wendy Allshouse, Nephew Scott Allshouse (Kristen) and their 3 daughters Megan, Emily and Katelyn. She is also survived by members of the Wilgus Family, Latourelle Family and her Spirit Life church family along with countless friends made throughout the years.
Please make a donation in her honor to the St Augustine Wild Reserve or Humane Society.
A private memorial will be held by the family at a later date.

I miss Barbara so much! So was my neighbor across the street. Every day I would look out my front door and see her coming and going! She was such a lovely, Godly lady. I guess I took it for granted that I would always be seeing her! What a lost. I will miss our little talks and waves to each other. Boy, I miss her so much!
