Donald William LaTourelle

Donald William LaTourelle, age 92 of Macomb, passed away on January 23, 2023.
Donald was born on January 25, 1930 to William and Victoria LaTourelle in Detroit, Michigan. As a young man, Don proudly joined the United States National Guard where he served his country with dedication for eight years as a Staff Sargient. After his time in the service, Don would go on to meet the love of his life and future bride, Carmen Licari. They married on October 25, 1952 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Detroit surrounded by their loved ones. Together, Don and Carmen would celebrate 70 beautiful years together. They would raise their beloved family (children Robert, Denise, and Laura) and celebrate the births of five beloved grandchildren and four great-grandchildren (soon to be five!). Don was a loving husband, father, Papa. Don was a hardworking provider for his family, working 40 1/2 years as a sheet metal model maker at General Motors before retiring in 1993. In his free time, Don loved to go swing-dancing with his beloved wife Carmen, sing his favorite songs in his wonderful tenor voice, and when he was younger enjoyed hunting and fishing. However, his favorite thing in the world was spending time with his family and creating memories that will last a life-time. Don could fix nearly anything, and was known by his family and friends of truly being a jack of all trades. Don will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Beloved husband of Carmen LaTourelle; cherished father of Robert (Ingrid) LaTourelle, Denise Sonntag, and Laura (David) Mansfield; proud Papa of Justin LaTourelle, Andrew (Roger Vella) Sonntag, Carrie-Anne (Patrick) Mollison, Zachery (Nina) Mansfield, and Gabrielle (Stephen) Osowski; best great-Papa of Ivy, Jude, Shepard, Lola, and baby soon to be Sloane.
Don is also survived by many loving family and friends.
Visitation to take place on Wednesday, January 25 from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a rosary at 7:00 PM.
Funeral Mass to take place on Thursday, January 26 at St. Paul of Tarsus. Instate, or gathering time, 9:30 AM. Mass at 10:00 AM. Procession to Resurrection Cemetery to follow for committal prayers.
