Barbara Lawrence Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hurley Funeral Home - Pleasanton on Feb. 4, 2026.
With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Barbara Ellen Lawrence, who entered into eternal rest on February 2, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on April 9, 1932, in the tranquil town of Michigan City, Indiana, Barbara lived a life rich with creativity, faith, and love.

Barbara was a woman of many talents and passions. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-crocheting and crafting beautiful rugs on her beloved loom, bringing warmth to her home and the homes of those she cherished. Her backyard, a sanctuary of nature, was filled with gentle deer that would visit, drawn to her nurturing spirit as she lovingly fed them. Her strong faith guided her throughout her life, and she found solace and community in her church, where she was an active participant and supporter.

As a proud member of the National Grange in Indiana, Barbara embraced the values of community and service, always eager to lend a helping hand. One of her greatest joys was the time spent with children-her infectious laughter and warm heart creating lasting memories and a sense of belonging.

Barbara is survived by her loving sons, Vic Sanchez (Christine), Jerry Waldo, Dale Waldo, Bob Waldo (Denise), and Brian Waldo (Kim Stark); daughters Priscilla Sue Neblung, June Stilwell, Joan Stinson, Patricia Waldo, and Nancy Sanchez; brother Allen Cowgill and sister Dorothea Weiss; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Public Viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. Barbara will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, IN.

As we gather to honor Barbara, we remember her zest for life, her artistic spirit, and the deep love she had for her family and friends. She leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Barbara was preceded in death by: father Arthur Cowgill; mother Dorothy Cowgill; husband Eddie Lawrence; sons Larry, Albert and David Sanchez; and brothers Richard Frank and James Arthur.
