She was born on June 9, 1943, in Butler, PA, to the late Eugene and Emma (Parton) Harrer.

Barbara worked several jobs during her life. She worked for Butler High School as a Cafeteria Worker; the Days Inn as a Housekeeper; then for Giant Eagle as a Cook in the Hot Foods Section. Barbara is survived by her five daughters, Darlene Ferne, Sharon (Mike) Bartley, Carol (Jeff) Smith, Deborah (Bill) Croup, and Machele (Greg) Marfil; her fifteen grandsons; her granddaughter; her nineteen great-grandchildren; as well as by her numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Richard L. Leonard, whom she married on June 14, 1962, and passed away on April 9, 2012; her three sisters; as well as her great-grandson, Aiden Bartley.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm, at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 East North Street, Butler, PA 16001.
