Thomas C Leonard

The family of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas C. Leonard is deeply saddened to announce his passing on February 5,2026. Born on October 11, 1932, Tom lived a full and remarkable life. He touched the hearts of those he met through: UVM college, his apple business, his military career, playing golf, fishing at Everglades City, and his stay at Our House in Rutland.

The deceased mother of his three children says it best:

In the mountains gap on Route Four

Is a rambling fruit stand with a big white door

It is Fair View Orchards run by old pilot Tom

While the rest of the crew is Wanda , Tommy, Karen and Mom

There are apples and maple, cheese and honey

All sorts of items in exchange for your money.

And out of the land comes the cry- Cider! Cider!

Very cold I'll get mine when it's nine days old.

We pack gift cartons to ship near and far

The apples they say taste above par.

We love our orchards, all the trees and the land

And hope you'll come to see us whenever you can
