Meredith Petty Obituary
WEST RUTLAND – Meredith H. Petty, 87, passed away peacefully February 13, 2026 at Springfield Health and Rehab. In Springfield, Vermont.
Meredith was born January 7, 1939, in Hyannis, Massachusetts, the daughter of Betty and Hatton Wilks.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, her cat Miss Kitty, sewing, plants and flowers. She also enjoyed bird watching and all animals. She was also a survivor of breast cancer.
Meredith was predeceased by her husband John E. Petty in 1991 and her daughter Cheryl in 2019.
Survivors include her daughter Joan Pluta and her husband Michael of North Chittenden, her son John M. Petty of West Rutland, grandsons John Morgan Pluta and his finance Megan Watrous of Shoreham, Vermont and Daniel Pluta of North Chittenden, her brother Roger Wilks of New Jersey and nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 11AM Saturday February 21, 2026 at the Aldous Funeral Home, 44 North Main St, Rutland, VT. Burial will be at a later date in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.
