Thomas Robert "Pete" Burke

1947-2026

Mr. Thomas Robert Burke, most affectionately known as Pete, 78, of Rutland Town, VT, passed away at home, peacefully in his sleep, on Friday, February 13, 2026. He was born May 16th, 1947, in Rutland, Vermont, the son of the late Elizabeth Stokowski Burke and Harold F. Burke. Mr. Burke is predeceased by his cherished partner of many years, Glenda Silber, and beloved siblings Kathleen Anne Copps, Frances Vincenta Brigham, Harold F. Burke Jr. He is survived by three children and many grandchildren: Carrie Savage, husband Jesse children Hannah, Dakota, Nina and Sarah, Jenice Gonyea, husband Chris and daughter Sydney, and grandson of his partner Glenda, Andrew Silber. He is also survived by 10 siblings, Elizabeth "Betsy" Emerson (Jon), James Burke, Sally Zivitz (Leonard), Michael Burke, William Burke (Sherry), Stephen Burke, Susan Burke, Jack Burke (Debbie), Joseph Burke (Diane), and Nancy Burke. He attended Rutland High School, graduating in 1965. Mr. Burke received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Vermont Technical School and went on to have a diverse career in many fields. Pete was forever a champion of the underdog, quick with advice on life experience, and versed in all trades. He was a compassionate soul who treasured family above everything and most loved rooting for his Red Sox every year. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him and knew him.
