Cumberland, MD- Barbara Ann Lindner, 84, of Cumberland, MD, a true sweetheart, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born February 14,1940 in Cumberland, MD, Mrs. Lindner was the daughter of Donald Lambert and the late Regina (Baker) Lambert and Richard Gulick. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Richard and Bill Gulick; a sister: Bonnie Fulk; and a great-granddaughter: Paisley Grace.
Barbie was a graduate of Fort Hill High School Class of 1958. After graduation, she met James "Ed" Lindner, who she knew from the first time they met, she would marry him; they married in 1959. She graduated from Tri-State Beauty Academy. Barbie won a beauty contest in New York City with Mamie Scott, with whom she worked with at Scotty's Salon for several years before opening her own shop, Barbie's Beauty Salon, in her home in 1970. She operated "Barbies' for many years until retirement. Her whole life was devoted to her family and her customers. Barbie loved making others beautiful and happy. All of her customers were friends. She baked cakes and dinners for anyone sick, or just because. To some, she was known at "Miss Monday," for that was her day off to go downtown. Every Monday there were gifts on our beds from Mom. Barbie began her battle with Cancer in 2000 when she lost her leg. She didn't let that slow her down. In 2020, it showed up again. She lost a courageous battle on March 5th. Barbie loved everyone she met, and they loved her.
Barbie is survived by her husband of 64 years, James "Ed" Lindner; her daughters: Tina Hankinson and husband Dale; Lisa Clark and husband Donald; her son: James Edward Lindner, II and wife Melinda; her grandchildren: Drew Hankinson and wife Bethany; Dustin Hankinson; Ellisha Stanley and fiancé Jason Daddysman; Amanda Davis and husband, Brian; Anna Weisenmiller and husband Jeremy; James Edward Lindner, III and wife Erica; and Olivia Shyrock and husband David; her great-grandchildren: Jamison, Cade, Isaac, Blake, Bella, Elias, Norah, Lincoln, Nash, Alex and Luke, Lorelai, and Tommy Dale on the way. Barbie was also the big sister and second mom to: Sandy Pierce and husband Edward; Linda Fleming and Katie; Gary Lambert and wife Debbie; and Donnie Lambert and wife Tammy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
