Graveside services for Barbara Loftis, 88, of Athens, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Athens, Texas, officiated by Johnny Johnson. Services are under the direction of Hannigan Smith Funeral Home.
Ms. Loftis passed away July 20, 2025, in Athens.
Barbara Louise Johnson Loftis was born June 20, 1937, in Navarro, Texas the daughter of Roy Olan (R.O.) Johnson and Minnie Belle (Cook) Johnson. She graduated from Montgomery High School, was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who's love language was cooking. Her career was spent mostly as owner/operator of Cowboy Headquarters and Western Wear from 1970-1985 and as office manager at Pringler Iron and Metal from 1991-2008 when she retired to the ranch. Memaw enjoyed spending time outdoors in her garden, canning what she grew and spent many years as a farmer/rancher raising horses and cattle at the Loftis Ranch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Artie Loftis; her son Rickey Loftis; sister Joyce Pillans and her brother Roy Johnson.
She is survived by two children, Vickie Estep and husband Dan of Lindale, Brenda Chaney and husband Thomas of Garland; daughter-in-law Teresa Loftis of Athens; brother Johnny Mack Johnson and Carol Hodges of Waco; grandchildren, Chanda Porter and husband Aaron, Sammie Carr and husband Joe, Lacey Loftis, Cody Clark and Kaci Roberts, Scott Clark, Brandi Brown and husband Todd, James Garner, Becca Garner; great grandchildren, Reece Porter, Doak Porter, Kenley Carr, Brayley Carr, Strait Myers, Westi Myers, Ketch Myers, Ollie Clark, Colton Brown, Caleb Brown, Chloe Brown, Clayton Garner and Kaden Morris.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Clark, Scott Clark, Aaron Porter, Joe Carr, Strait Myers, Ketch Myers, Kaden Morris, Doak Porter.
In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to be made in her memory to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country-Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home Family.
