Barbara Ann Brown McCoy, known affectionately as Barbara to all who knew her, was a beacon of faith and love throughout her 80 years of life. Born on November 20, 1945, in Bridgeton, New Jersey, Barbara's journey came to a peaceful end on January 1, 2026, in Roanoke, Virginia under the care of Raleigh Court Health and Rehab. Her life was one marked by devotion to her family, her work, and her unwavering faith in God.

Barbara was born to the late Jethro and Julia Brown and grew up with a foundation of love and support that she would carry with her for the rest of her life. She was preceded in death by her cherished husband of 40 years, Willington McCoy, her step-son, Gary McCoy, her brothers, Jethro Brown Jr and Ronald Brown, and a dear friend who was much like her sister, her "Bobbsey twin" and "Hamburger Buddy," Wanda J Kast.

Throughout her life, Barbara formed many lasting bonds with those around her. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Carmen Brown, and her adopted family, The Kast family, which included her special friend and caregiver, Anita Kast Weber of Copper Hill, Virginia, who was much like a daughter to her. Barbara's love extended to her special grandson, Leland Weber, and her god-daughter, Aliana Perze of Vineyard, New Jersey. In her last months, she was blessed with the companionship and support of a special friend, Michael Erianne. Barbara also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances who will miss her deeply.

Barbara's work ethic was as strong as her faith. She dedicated 11 years of her life to packing at Owens Illinois in Bridgeton, New Jersey, before moving to Durand Glass in Millville, New Jersey, where she remained for 31 years until her retirement on January 2, 2014. A devout Christian, Barbara's spiritual journey was central to her life. She attended Abundant Life Christian Center in Mantua, New Jersey, where Reverend Steaven D'Amico served as her pastor. After moving to Radford, she found a new spiritual home at First Apostolic Church of Radford with Pastor Hall. In her final days, she continued her spiritual walk with the assistance of Senior Pastor Dereck Pederson of Salem Apostolic Church in Salem, Virginia. Barbara's interests were a reflection of her joyful spirit. She delighted in movies, puzzles, sticker books, coloring, and shopping. Nothing brought her more joy than "Getting her grub on" with a variety of foods, especially her favorite fried chicken. Those who knew Barbara would describe her as a loving soul, a person who brought light into every room and every heart she touched.

The family will receive friends at a time of visitation on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held to honor her life on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 12:00 PM in Kendall Funeral Home. A celebration dinner will follow.
