Barbara Lee "Babs" McCune, 72, of Center Township entered into the eternal rest of her Lord and Savior on August 15th, 2023 at UPMCShadyside hospital after a brief, but courageous battle with cancer.
A lifelong resident of Beaver County, Pennsylvania, Babs was born in Rochester Hospital on September 17th, 1950 to the late Leah Acy Phoebe Portman and Lawrence William Figley. On December 8th, 1984, Babs married the love of her life, James Darby McCune.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters Jennifer Stewart (Ron), Rebecca Baker, Jessica Jones, and Darby Hupp (Eric) and a multitude of beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and cousins.
Babs was a 1968 graduate of Center Area High School. A pet enthusiast, she worked as a veterinary technician before returning to school to earn her certification in dog grooming where she spent many years running 'Puppy Love", a highly successful pet salon, out of her home.
Babs was a talented quilter and crocheter, as well as a first degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. She enjoyed taking trips to Oak Island, North Carolina and New Hampshire and going out for meals with her husband. Most of all, Babs delighted in spending time with her family, never missing a concert, sporting or school event, and especially loved the holidays where she was known to throw an elaborate and highly anticipated Christmas Extravaganza for her children and grandchildren.
As followers of Jesus, Babs' family takes great comfort in the knowledge that they will see her again, while greatly missing her unconventional sense of humor and unceasing love.
Babs' family would like to thank the many wonderful nurses and doctors who provided excellent care and support at both Heritage Valley Beaver and UPMC Shadyside during these very difficult months.
In honoring her wishes, no services are planned, but contributions may be made to the Beaver County Humane Society or Toys for Tots in her memory.
