Barbara Ann Mess, 71, of Phillips passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 15, 2024, at Park Manor Nursing Home in Park Falls, WI. She was born on August 3, 1953, to Roy and Matilda (Leuthner) Frasl in Eau Claire, WI.

Barb graduated from Cooper High School in 1971. She married Lawrence Mess on June 16th, 1974, and they made their home in Phillips, WI until he passed away in 2003. Barb always looked forward to family gatherings “down river” with friends and family, sitting by the campfire, and enjoying all of the great meals, keeping holiday traditions alive was very important for her, and of course, spending quality “granny” time with her grandchildren and all of the fur babies. We will always remember her sense of humor and how strong and proud she was. She will be deeply missed by all.

She is survived by her daughter, Jessi (Chris) Dieman of Phillips, WI; grandchildren, Dakota, Danaya, Daelyn Dieman all of Phillips, WI; siblings, Jeannette (Chris) Lickness of Spring Valley, WI, Allen (Lolagene) Frasl of Amery, WI, Loren (Murri) Frasl of New Richmond, WI. She is also survived by Jessi’s brother Larry Mess, also of Phillips, WI, and many nieces, nephews, friends and her beloved furry companion Ellie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, (Lawrence); her parents Matilda and Roy; sister, Shirley Flaskrud; brothers-in-law George Flaskrud and Roy Ottinger; sister-in-law Jackie Sivertsen.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, November 2nd, starting at noon at the Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home, 284 Chestnut Street, Phillips, Wisconsin. Heindl-Nimsgern Funeral Home is assisting the family.
