Barbara Pipinia Mickelson (née Stanford) passed away on August 1, 2025 at her home in Dale City, Virginia. She was a cherished mother and grandmother who offered endless love and support to her family and friends throughout her life. Barbara's strength served as an example to all who knew her.
Barbara was born in 1941 in Lawley, Alabama to Brant Stanford, Sr. and Lillian Langford. She lived in Alabama with her parents and her brother, Brant Stanford Jr., before moving to North Carolina where she met and married Louis D. Mickelson as he served in the Marines. Together, Barbara and Lou worked and raised four daughters while living first in Woodbridge and then in Dale City. Barbara is survived by her daughters Corinne Mickelson (Barrie Bland), Christina Hough (Andrew Hough), Cynthia Mickelson-Carter (Jeff Carter) and Carla Mickelson (Vanessa Whitfield), her grandsons Alexander Hough, Matthew Hough (Emily Hough) and Christian Mickelson, and by her cherished great granddaughters Chrishya and Carlee.
The funeral will be a public graveside ceremony, at 1:30PM on Monday, August 18th at Quantico National Cemetery, at 18424 Joplin Rd., Triangle, VA 22172.
Friends and family are invited to join the family in celebrating Barbara at Tina and Andy's home at 9202 Main Street, Manassas, VA 20110 directly following the graveside service.
