Barbara Marie Milota (nee Kovacic), the former Barbara Kocet, passed away peacefully after a long struggle with dementia on March 4, 2023 at the age of 83. She was born on July 13, 1939 in Cleveland, Ohio to her parents, Marie J. (deceased) and Edward J. Kovacic (deceased). She was married to Michael Kocet (deceased) and later to Roger Milota (deceased). She was a graduate of St. Francis High School in 1957 and top of her graduating class at St. Alexis Nursing School in 1960. She was employed at various hospitals, St. Alexis Hospital, Euclid, Hospital, and Huron Road Hospital. She also worked at the Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office. She was a devoted nurse who believed in the importance of caring for those sick and in need of comfort. She was an avid reader of murder mysteries, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, cryptogram puzzles, Wint-O-Green Lifesavers, and Diet Coke. She loved unconditionally and was a compassionate listener to family and friends alike. She was also a devoted cat and dog owner for most of her life.
She is survived by her children, daughter Michelle Kitchen (Gregg) and son Dr. Michael Kocet, Granddaughter Olivia, sister to Edward "Buddy" Kovacic (Nancy), nephews Teddy and Andy, and aunt and cousin to many.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 9:00am-11:00am at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, 37433 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, OH 44094. A service of Catholic burial will be at 11am at Brickman Bros. Funeral Home, followed by burial at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio. Barbara will be interred with her parents, Edward and Marie Kovacic.
Friends and family are being asked to wear something purple (her favorite color) on Saturday, March 11, 2023 in honor of Barbara.
