Opal Hood (nee Burgess) age 89 passed away Oct. 5, 2025 at Independence Village of Aurora. She was born August 19, 1936 in Blair, West Virginia. Opal worked in the Cafeteria at Olmsted Falls High School. After her retirement, she and Jerry moved to Zephyrhills Florida and lived there for 30 years where she loved to play shuffleboard.
Opal is the beloved wife of the late Jerry; dear mother of Jerry, Timothy (wife Ronelle), Craig (wife Katy); seven grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She was the last and oldest to live out of seven siblings. She was an aunt to many.
A Memorial Service will be on Saturday Oct. 18, 2025 at 12 Noon at Columbia Rd. Baptist Church, 4116 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted, Ohio 44070, where the visitation will take place from 11 AM - 12 Noon.
Opal and Jerry will be interred together at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, Ohio
In lieu of flowers. donations may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
