Barbara Ann Mock, finished her lifelong journey on November 22, 2025 at the age of 99. She was born Barbara Breinholt to her parents Niels Buch and Mary Agnes Breinholt of Rochester, MN on December 28, 1925.
Barbara is survived by her children, Marcia Mock of Charlottesville, VA, Dana (Gwenyth) Mock, Jr. of Kasson, MN, Tracie Scarlett of Golden, CO, and Jamie Mock-Jones of Brookfield, IL; her grandchildren, Lori Reinking, Jeff Clarke, Emily Haddad, Shea Scarlett, Rachel Kadlec, Andrea Arnold, Kayla Waldecker, Jarod Brothers, Nathan Brothers, and Trevor Brothers, and Harrison Jones; and eighteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Dana Lee Mock; her parents; and her sisters, Marilyn Breinholt and Jean Kincy.
Barbara graduated from Rochester High School, Class of 1943. She studied at Rochester Community College before moving to Washington, D.C., to work in civilian support for the Marine Corps during WWII. Married in 1946, the family remained in Northern Virginia. After relocation to Santa Barbara, CA for several years, Barbara made her home in the Hinsdale, IL area before settling in Bolingbrook, IL for the remainder of her life. Barbara returned to the workforce in 1972 at the Hinsdale School District #86 and remained there until her retirement in the early 2000's. She was a fixture as Secretary to the District #86 Superintendent. Her hobbies in retirement included volunteering at the Rialto Square Theater in Joliet, IL for many years.
Barbara left a legacy of commitment and devotion to her work and interests, and as the matriarch along with her husband to an extended family of high achievers. Well done, Barbara, you are loved and remembered by those whose lives you touched.
A private family inurnment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, MN.
