Barbara Moore Obituary
Barbara King Moore, born on November 15, 1933, in Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, in her beloved hometown of Wilmington. She was 91 years old at the time of her passing.
Barbara was the cherished daughter of the late Renouard S. King and Esther Mae McFadyen King. She devoted many years of her professional life as an Executive Secretary with Corbett Package Company, where her diligence and dedication left a lasting impact.
A lifelong resident of Wilmington, Barbara was a devout member of St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she found spiritual guidance and community. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a valued member of the congregation and choir. She also formerly dedicated her time and efforts to the Ladies of Arab (Wilmington) Shrine Club, contributing actively for many years.
Barbara is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 73 years, Arthur Eugene Moore. She leaves behind her cherished and devoted daughter, Colleen Moore Murphrey, and son-in-law Cary Murphrey of Cary, NC. She was a proud Grandmama to Hayleigh Murphrey Snotherly and Mariah Rose Murphrey and a beloved Great-Grandmama to Easton Alexander Snotherly and Luke Arthur Snotherly. Remembered is her late sister, Anniemae King Murray and her late brother, Renouard Samuel King, Jr.
Her family and friends will remember her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 612 S. College Road, Wilmington. The service will be led by her pastor, Sam Zumwalt, with music provided by her longtime friend and Director of Music, Bill Glisson along with special musical vocals by her granddaughter, Hayleigh Murphrey Snotherly.
Prior to the service, the family will greet friends and loved ones at the Church beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens at Bradley Creek.
Pallbearers will be Michael King, Lynn Hyatt, Edward McKeithan, Bradford King, Michael Moore, and Phillip Groves.
Barbara's family wishes to extend their gratitude to all who have offered their condolences and support during this difficult time. Her presence will be missed by all who knew her, but her memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of her family and friends.
