Barbara O. Morse, 88, of Danvers, passed away Friday, November 14, 2025. Daughter of the late Lyman and Anna (Metcalfe) Smith, Barbara was born in Beverly and raised in Beverly Farms. She graduated from Beverly High School in 1957.
Barbara married Robert C. Morse on May 29, 1958. Robert and Barbara made their homes in the Montserrat area of Beverly. For many years she commuted to Boston and worked for IBM. After having children, she decided to work as a banquet waitress at King's Grant in Danvers. Once both children, Linda and David, were in school, Barbara returned to work as a nanny for a family in Beverly Farms.
Barbara was active with the girl scouts and the Methodist Church. She was a troop leader for several years. At the church Barbara would coordinate the annual rummage sale. Both Barbara and Robert were also youth group leaders for many years.
Being on the water, whether it was at West beach in Beverly Farms or Silver Lake was very special to Barbara. Upon retirement Barbara and Robert made the family vacation home at Silver Lake, New Hampshire, their second home. They would spend half the year in New Hampshire and the other half in Massachusetts. She said later in life that Silver Lake was "their special paradise."
In the late 2000s they moved from Beverly to Danvers. In 2023, Barbara moved to Georgetown to live with her daughter Linda Kemmer.
Barbara received exceptional in-home care for several years through Care Dimensions. The Morse and Kemmer family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to her care team of Dr. Tina Waugh and Elise Harris. In her final years she was in hospice under Care Dimensions where her nurse Margie, caregiver Shelly Rowe and social worker Gail McCarthey gave her thoughtful and loving care. It delightful to see them and the volunteer, Joyce Hurd, who would come and talk or play cards with mom weekly.
Barbara enjoyed the company of her long-time friend, Teresa Ambrosino. They would spend many weekends together when the Kemmer family was camping in Maine. Teresa was more than a friend; she became part of the family and was always part of the family get togethers.
Barbara loved her pets throughout the years: Midnight, Ginger, Winny, Mercedez, Benz and Patsy. Holidays were a special time for Barbara, she enjoyed the families getting together. She enjoyed baking, knitting and crocheting. In the summer a relaxing Saturday would include finding a bargain at a yard sale or two.
Barbara is survived by: Her daughter Linda Kemmer and her husband Robert of Georgetown, MA; Her son David R. Morse and his wife Deborah J. (Coleman) of Hastings, MN; her grandsons, Justin and Michael Kemmer of Georgetown, MA; and her granddaughters, Gabriella and Christabella Morse of Hastings, MN. Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Robert C. Morse.
Funeral services for Barbara are private. Contributions may be made in her memory to Northeast Animal Shelter. Arrangements by Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot St., Beverly, MA. Information, directions, condolences at www.campbellfuneral.com.
