Obituary published on Legacy.com by Campbell Funeral Home - Beverly on Nov. 15, 2025.
Our devoted husband, father, grandfather, Edward G. Margolis, age 81, of Beverly entered into rest on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, after an unexpected and brief battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Ed was born in Beverly on July 12, 1944 to the late Hyman and Marion (Dansker) Margolis. He was raised in Beverly and graduated from Beverly High School with the Class of 1963, after which he honorably served in the US National Guard. Ed was a skilled model and pattern maker, and he pursued his passion working extensively with Parker Brothers before founding his own company, Margolis Associates.
Ed was a dedicated and wonderful father and husband. He met his wife Jean and they married in September 1967. They decided to start a family in Beverly where they enjoyed many great memories with their children, Jenny and Adam. Ed had a love for sitting by the ocean throughout Beverly, and going to athletic events to support his children and grandchildren.
Ed and Jean were married in September 1967. They lived in Beverly for their entire marriage and never considered moving. They shared many happy times together with friends and family.
Ed always put in the extra effort with his two children, Adam and Jenny. Whether teaching them how to ski, skate, work hard and create the life you want for yourself, he never stopped loving them with all his heart and was always there when you needed help or advice. Ed was generous, smart and thoughtful and was always doing things to make people's lives easier, anyone that knew Ed, would say the same. He possessed the rare combination of someone who appreciated the simple things in life like a good beach day, a great ice cream and an epic day on the ski slopes, yet he had a solid understanding of what was important- the simplicity of living life with those you love.
A highlight of Ed's life was his relationship with his two grandchildren, Abbie and Hugh Kelley. Ed was an extremely proud grandfather, and he would often talk about them on his regular coffee meet ups with friends and family. He loved taking them out for breakfast, texting to say hello and celebrating birthdays and milestones in their lives. He was so proud of the people they are and growing into. He often remarked on Abbie's bravery and sense of humor and Hugh's smart mind and strong character. He loved to spoil his grandchildren and will always be remembered for being a loving Grampy.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jean A. (Bagley) Margolis, his son Adam Margolis and partner Susanna Matter, daughter Jenny (Margolis) Kelley and husband Stephen Kelley, grandchildren Abbie and Hugh Kelley, sister in law Bette Bagley and her husband Michael McGowan, sister in law Connie Margolis. Nieces and nephews, Karen Kurokawa, Hilary Diskin, Jeff Margolis and Dana Margolis.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Larry Margolis, sister Toby Speigel, brother in law Herbert Spiegel.
In accordance with Ed's wishes, his funeral services will be private. A Celebration of Edward's Life will be held at a future date at the beginning of January.
