Barbara Cathern Nicholson, 87, of Jamestown, KY, died Wednesday, Jun 18, 2025.
She was born June 15, 1938, in Wayne County, KY, to the late Otha and Delsa New (Casada).
She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to numerous people throughout the world. She worked diligently for the Lord as a pastor's wife and home missionary throughout her life.
She worked as a certified nursing assistant for Lifeline Home Health in Russell Springs, KY. As a pastor's wife and home missionary, Barbara served the community with compassion and kindness. She showed and shared the love of Christ with everyone she encountered. She was active member and leader in the WMU (Women's Missionary Union).
Barbara had a passion for missions and loved equipping churches to share Christ both locally and globally. Her priority was love of family second only to her love of God. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith (2 Timothy 4:7).
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Bob and Chester New, and sister, Ruby New.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Ted Nicholson; son and daughter, John Nicholson of Wayne County and Rebekah Barnett of Louisville, KY; sister, Helen Eccles of Marion, IN; brother-in-law, Kenny Eccles; daughter in-law, Eleanor Nicholson, son-in-law, John Barnett; granddaughters, Rachel Barnett and Sarah Barnett; and multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, and Funeral Service at 12 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Ratterman Funeral Home 3711 Lexington Rd in Louisville, KY 40207. Graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Mills Springs National Cemetery 9044 KY-80 Nancy, KY with the Rev. John D. Barnett.
