Barbara Nugent

Mrs. Barbara Nugent, age 81, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Ga. following an extended illness.

 

Born January 2, l943, Mrs. Nugent was the daughter of Parnell and Myrtle Hickox Douglas. She was a lifelong resident of Atkinson County and retired from Atkinson County Solid Waste Management Authority where she served as secretary for many years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Nugent, son, Barry Nugent, daughter, Marsha Nugent, and sister, Arlene White.

 

Survivors include:

2 Sons: John Nugent and wife Sabrina of Willacoochee, Ga.

            Chris Nugent and wife Kristy of Millwood, Ga.

 

1 Brother: Wayne Douglas and wife Lois of Raleigh, N.C.

 

2 Sisters: Phyllis Mullis of Pearson, Ga.

                 Renee Alexander and husband Jackie of Monroe, Ga.

 

5 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren. 1 Great Great Grandchild and several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

 

Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Nugent were held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at Sunnyside Cemetery with Rev. Larry Johnson and Rev. Sim Youngblood officiating. Special music included “Amazing Grace” and “Go Rest High on that Mountain” by cd. The interment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.

 

Serving as active pallbearers were Ryan Nugent, Jonathan Nugent, Brian Nugent, Auden Nugent, Gavin Gurley and David Moore.

 

Relihan Funeral Home of Pearson, Ga. was in charge of the arrangements.
