Barbara Jeanne Ostlund

Barbara J. Ostlund, age 95, of Annandale, died Friday, May 24, 2024, at The Glenn in Hopkins.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 31, 2024, at Heartland Evangelical Free Church, Annandale with Pastor Denny Johnson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be held at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Heartland Evangelical Free Church or Greater Lake Sylvia Association.
Barbara Jeanne West was born July 22, 1928, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Lewis and Esther (Engum) West. Barb graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1946 and then graduated from the University of Minnesota dental hygiene program. She worked as a hygienist for 34 years. On August 17, 1956, Barb was united in marriage to Alan T. Ostlund in Minneapolis. Barb was a member of Word of Grace Church, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School for 30 years, and was a member of the youth groups and women's society. She and Al were youth group sponsors for many years. Barb was also a den mother and active in the community. After retiring, Barb and Al moved to Lake Sylvia. They then attended Heartland Evangelical Free Church in Annandale. Barb gave of her time to many organizations including the Annandale Care Center, History Club, Friendship Ventures, and Pioneer Park. She was also active with the Greater Lake Sylvia Association, having served as the secretary and historian. She was always graciously willing and ready to host family and friends for gatherings, or simply for a cup of coffee. Barb had a passion for traveling, which allowed her to explore the beauty of the world alongside Al.
Barb is survived by her sons and their spouses, Wes and Lynne of Minnetonka, and Charles and Denise of Annandale; grandchildren, Andrew (Tiffany), Emily (Rick) Peterson, Lisa (Josh) Litwiller, Reid, and Lauren (Aaron) Perry; great-grandchildren, Elin, Calvin, Soren, Sylvia, and Carter; and other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Esther; husband, Al; and sister, Carol.
Barb's grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
