Barbara Anne Patterson (née Barnett), age 80, passed away on August 21, 2025 at 8:40 PM at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care.

Her final days were spent in the loving care of her family and the dedicated staff of Hospice of the Wabash Valley. Barbara was born in Rockcastle County, Kentucky, and spent most of her life in London, KY, where she built a warm and loving home with her husband, the late Howard Patterson.

After his passing in 2020, she relocated from Kentucky in 2021 to be closer to her loved ones.

A deeply selfless and nurturing soul, Barbara devoted her life to raising and caring for her family. Before becoming a homemaker, she worked as a waitress-until she met the love of her life, Howard. Together, they created a life centered on love, kindness, and togetherness.

Barbara found joy in the everyday moments: cooking home-style meals, tending to her spring flowers, and watching hummingbirds grace her yard. She had a special love for Christmas, spending countless hours each year transforming her home into a glowing winter wonderland.

In quieter times, Barbara enjoyed shopping, traveling, going out to dinner, working puzzles, getting their nails done together, coloring, crafting, and watching her favorite shows with her granddaughter and primary caregiver, Kayla Patterson.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Patterson; her daughter, Loretta Patterson; her parents, Jesse and Hazel Barnett; and her siblings: Sue Evans, Kenneth Dale "K.B." Barnett, Shannon Ray Barnett, Ed Barnett, Jessie Lee Barnett, and Glena Barnett.

Barbara is survived by her son, Jack Patterson; grandchildren Kayla Patterson, Madison Patterson, Hayden David Mounce, and Colton Wayne Mounce; her siblings Pauline Bryant, Donald Joe Barnett, and Phillip Barnett, all of Mount Vernon, KY; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Bowling Funeral Home in London, Kentucky. Private graveside services for immediate relatives only will be held at A.R. Dyche Memorial Park, where Barbara will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and daughter.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA)-an organization dedicated to providing support, services, and education to individuals, families, and caregivers affected by Alzheimer's disease and related dementias nationwide, as well as funding research for better treatment and a cure. Donations may be made online via the AFA donation page at http://alzfdn.org/donate

Barbara's legacy lives on through the love she gave, the strength she shared, and the memories cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
