Barbara Ann Penberg

Barbara Ann (Shirley) Penberg of Bowmanstown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025 at Riverstone Manor in Walnutport, PA. She was 78 years old.

Born on February 13, 1947, in Geneva, New York, Barbara was the daughter of the late Hazel (Griffin) and stepfather Benjamin VanCamp. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Larrabee; grandson Joseph Trinkle; siblings Stephen Shirley, Vernon "Skip" Shirley, and Beth (Shirley) Sleezer.

Barbara is survived by her daughter Roxanna Pifer and husband Bryan of Bear, DE; her son Richard Penberg and wife Linda of Bowmanstown, PA; grandchildren Daniel Stahler, Matthew Stahler, Kaitlin Stahler, Richard Penberg III, Robert Pifer, and Ryan Penberg; many great-grandchildren; and her sister, Babette (Shirley) Hazlett.

In her early life, Barbara devoted herself to raising her children before beginning a career in retail flooring, working for Kmart, Country Junction, and Lowe's. She was a longtime member of the Bowmanstown Fire Company, where she found community.

Barbara was a woman of many talents and passions. She really loved crafting-crocheting, knitting, ceramics, and painting. She also enjoyed the solitude of reading and the camaraderie of her bowling team.

No services are planned at this time. The family invites you to remember Barbara in your own way, perhaps with a quiet moment of reflection, a good book, or a project made by hand-just as she would have loved.
