Obituary of Barbara Anne Peterson

It is with deep sadness that the family of Barbara Peterson, 66, announces her passing on November 17, 2025. Barbara was a beloved mother, nana, sister, and friend.

Born on July 12, 1959, in Queens, New York, to Joan and David Peterson, Barbara spent her early years in New York, where she grew up, attended school, and began her career. She later relocated to Pennsylvania, where she raised her two daughters.

Barbara is survived by her daughters, Kathryn (David) Moore and Dana West; her grandchildren, Alexandra Moore and Oliver Moore; her sisters, Grace Peterson and Jean (Brian Byrne) Peterson; and her loyal pup, Kelly.

Barbara's interests reflected her warm and creative spirit. She enjoyed watching football, drawing, painting, playing Mr. Spider, chatting with friends, and handing out coins to her grandchildren. After years of resisting modern technology, she finally embraced a smartphone and quickly became an enthusiastic texter. She was also very funny.

Music was a lifelong thread in Barbara's life. In the early years, she could often be found standing on the sidewalk outside her Brooklyn apartment, listening to Elton John through the car radio. Later, she took comfort in the sounds of Phil Collins and Billy Joel through a pair of well-worn headphones. One of her favorite songs was "Scenes from an Italian Restaurant."

A devoted animal lover, Barbara rescued many dogs throughout her lifetime. Despite a cat allergy, she once stopped her car to save a small kitten on the side of the road; the family adopted the kitten, named her Peaches, and she lived a long and happy life.

Barbara will be deeply missed.
