Barbara Theresa Qualey (88) of North Anson passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in New York City to George and Theresa (Schikerle) Clement. Barbara spent her early years in Rifton, NY, where she graduated from Kingston High School.
Her family moved to the farm in Gray, Maine. It was there, she met the love of her life, Charles (Junior)The couple married on July 30,1955 at the Congregational Church in Gray. They shared 61 years together until Junior's passing in 2016.
Their union was blessed with four beautiful daughters and two average looking sons.
Barbara was a pillar in the community. She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a proud member of the Rebeccas and the local Women's Club.
She is predeceased by her parents, her younger brother, George and his wife Frances, her son in law Francis MacDonald, great grandson Daniel Kleiner, and the love of her life, Junior. She leaves behind her children Karen (Guy) Joslin, Linda MacDonald, Joyce (Steve) Hardy, Leanne (Andrew) Hardy, Chuck (Patti) Qualey, Chris (Erin) Qualey and her twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Barbara's legacy was her love and devotion to her family and to anyone who might need mothering.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The family is extremely grateful for the neighbors, friends and caregivers who helped in her care. Special thanks to Mary Jane Viles, Nancy Welch, and Una Wyman.
There will be a casual Remembrance Gathering at Barbara's home on Sept 28th between 11:00 and 3:00. Funeral services will be held at Wilson Funeral Home in Gray, Sept 29th at 1:00.
