Barbara J. Reimer passed away on Tuesday (October 5, 2021). She died peacefully at home with her children by her side at the age 86.
She was born on February 6, 1935, in Newton, Kansas, to Lester and Lorene (Williams) Wagner.
She married Edward Reimer on June 26, 1955, in the Walton United Methodist Church in Walton, Kansas. She later became a member of the United Church of Christ in Newton, Kansas.
Barbara and Edward enjoyed camping for many years. She had been a secretary at Anchor Financial Services in Newton for several years.
Survivors include her three children, Roger Reimer, Daryl Reimer and Janene Reimer Mabrey, all of Newton, Kansas; five grandchildren, Angela Reimer Ruiz, Ashley Mabrey, Melanie Mabrey, Robert C. Mabrey and Valerie Reimer; three great-granddaughters, Haylee Reimer Ruiz, Kaylee Reimer and Alessa Mabrey-Pfeffer; and several nieces and nephews.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Lester (Myrtle) Wagner and Lorene Wagner; her loving husband, Edward Reimer on March 21, 2014; two sisters, Elaine Kasitz and Janice Hiebert; a stepbrother, Kenneth Wagner; and many aunts and uncles.
The casket will be open at the funeral home on Monday (Oct. 11), from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be at Grace Community Church, 1600 South Anderson Road in Newton, Kansas, on Tuesday (October 12) at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Walton Cemetery in Walton, Kansas.
Memorials are suggested to Harvey County Special Ed SMD classroom at Newton High School or Grace Community Church. Contributions may be sent to Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton, Ks. 67114.
