It comes with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gary D. Swartz. Gary peacefully passed away Friday, January 9th, 2026 in Halstead Kansas with family by his side. He is survived by his wife DeWana, and five daughters. As well as ten grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by brothers Rick Swartz, Lorenzo Swartz Jr., and Larry Swartz, and two sisters, Nellie Gilkey and Marsha Jennings.
Gary was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a committed custodian for USD 373, working there for seven years. He has been a loyal Chiefs fan his whole life.
Family of Gary is holding a visitation/viewing at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home in Newton Kansas on Tuesday, January 20th, 2026. From one p.m. to 9 p.m. for family and friends to pay their respects.
