Barbara Janet Glynn Rhoades, 88, of White Oak, Texas, was born on January 29, 1937, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Donald Glynn and Genevieve Mills Glynn and passed from this life on September 14, 2025, in Longview, Texas. Barbara, an only child, was raised in Des Moines, Iowa, and graduated from North High School in 1955. As a child, she had a very special bond with her maternal grandmother and spent a lot of time making memories with her. She was a devoted mother whose greatest accomplishment and joy was raising her four children, of whom she was immensely proud. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren like no other. Her family was the center of her world, and her devotion to them was unwavering. In 1980, she and her youngest son, Danny, moved from Iowa to Big Sandy, Texas. Barbara was a dedicated employee of Big Sandy Independent School District, Strategic Fulfillment Group, and was the Court Clerk for the City of Big Sandy before retiring. She was a loyal friend, building many lifelong friendships over the years, often traveling on vacations with her closest friends. An avid sports fan, Barbara especially loved NFL and college football and attending various sporting events. Those left to cherish her are her four children, son, Randy Gale (Genevieve) of Urbandale, Iowa, daughter, Candy Freeman (Billy) of Altoona, Iowa, daughter, Sandy Gale (Brian) of West Des Moines, Iowa, and son, Danny Gale (Katie) of White Oak, Texas; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Genevieve Glynn. Private arrangements are under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home.
