It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara L. Roy (née Lequin), who left this world on February 28, 2026, at the age of 83. A loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and sister, Barbara was born in Holyoke, MA, on September 12, 1942, to Ernest and Mary (Lafond) Lequin, who have preceded her in death. Barbara cherished her family above all else and was married to her beloved husband, Clifford E. Roy, Sr., for 61 wonderful years. Together, they created a home that they opened to many foster children, and where they liked to joke they "raised two families". Barbara is survived by her children: Marie Allard-Laflamme and her husband Daniel, Clifford Roy II and his wife Joanne, Myra Pueschel and her husband Michael, and Thomas Roy and his wife Alison. She was a proud and doting grandmother to her grandchildren: Justin, Nate, Emma, Ethan, Nora, Morgan, August, London, and Sheppard. Barbara also leaves behind her dear brothers, Rev. Thomas Lequin and John Lequin and his wife Caroline. Throughout her life, Barbara dedicated herself to service and education. As a passionate teacher's aide for special needs students at Holyoke High School and the Morgan School, she made a lasting impact on the lives of many children. Her commitment to helping others reflected her caring spirit and deep faith. A spiritual person, she found joy and solace in her church fellowship. In addition to her dedication to family and career, Barbara had a profound appreciation for the beauty of life. She had a talent for sewing and maintained beautiful flower gardens that brought joy to her and those around her. Barbara was also an avid reader and listener of NPR, enjoying the stories and music that connected her to the world beyond her home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10, from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Beers & Story S. Hadley Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will take place at St. Patrick's Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Shriners Hospitals for Children, or NPR, causes that Barbara held close to her heart. May her soul rest in peace.
