Barbara Ann Sabo (née Peate), age 80, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, after a brave and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by love.

Barbara was born on July 11, 1945, in Fairview Park, Ohio, to Thomas and Dorothy Peate. She lived her life with grace, generosity, and unmistakable style. Always impeccably dressed, Barbara had a presence that lit up every room she entered.

Barbara lived a life full of faith, friendship, and family. She was an active and devoted member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ, where she served and volunteered in many capacities. She loved bringing people together-whether planning Rocky River High School class reunions, attending ladies' luncheons and dinners, or simply staying connected with friends near and far.

She cherished traveling back and forth between her children's homes in Texas and Columbus, Ohio, and found joy in warm weather, sunshine, and time at the beach. Barbara was deeply social and maintained a wide circle of friends, many of whom visited her during hospice care.

Above all else, Barbara was a devoted mother, sister, and a loving, fiercely proud grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and brought her immense joy.

Barbara is lovingly remembered by her children, Amy Hassel (Jim) and Derron Sabo (Wendi); her grandchildren, Tatem, Cullen, Kylee, and Reese; her twin sister, Linda Powrie (Fred); and her sister, Judy Johnson (Tom).

A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2026, with the date to be announced.
