Barbara Hammond Seals 92, of Fleming Island, FL passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Floyd and Gladys Hammond. She graduated from Lloyd Memorial High School in Erlanger, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 45 years James Seals and 1 sister Shirley Browder. She is survived by her brother Floyd Hammond, daughter Melody Wiegand (Don), son Joe Browder (Terri), 5 grandchildren: Matthew, Lucas and Patrick Wiegand, Joseph and Matthew Browder. She was blessed to meet 9 great grandchildren and was anxiously awaiting number 10.
Barbara worked her entire career as a Directory Assistance Operator with Bellsouth (AT&T) retiring in 1990. In addition, She and her husband were avid flea market booth operators specializing in Indian wares and collectible knives. After her retirement they continued to flea market until retiring that business in 2006.
She was very involved in her children's lives through Brownies, Girl Scouts, Homeroom Mother, Team Mother, Sunday school teacher and much more. She loved working with children and remained active in her grandchildren's lives as she was always anxious to take them for overnight stays, fill in for field trips and sporting events when their parent's had schedule conflicts with the events.
She enjoyed organizing family gatherings for all holidays as well as family reunions and other group outings with her adored sister Shirley. Their love for these events led to many family traditions that survived the test of time.
Barbara, dearly loved her brother Floyd and looked to him for guidance throughout her life. He helped her navigate life's turbulence many times and was always there for her. He was her safety net when needed.
She will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony on Wednesday October 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM next to her beloved husband in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery.
