Barbara Joyce Selig, 82, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, went to be with Jesus in Heaven and become our guardian angel. Barbara was born Wednesday, May 22, 1940, in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Evelyn J. Menser Anderson and Bert Menser,
Barbara met the love of her life, Larry Selig, in Hot Springs. They were married for 62 years. They began their family with the birth of their first son Chris Selig in 1971, followed by Jason Selig in 1977. Her children were the joy of her life, and she devoted every moment to ensuring they were loved and taken care of even to this day.
Barbara was a member of the Pacesetters and Elk's Lodge throughout her life serving in the community and enjoyed dancing and traveling with friends. If anyone needed to locate her you would find her camping on Lake Ouachita every moment she could rain or shine, while also enjoying her Florida trips with family two weeks each year. She also enjoyed just sitting on the back deck of her house on Lake Hamilton, drinking coffee, watching the razorbacks, sunrises and sunsets. Barbara loved being outdoors, especially with her family.
Barbara graduated from one of the first registered nursing programs offered in Hot Springs. She worked as an RN most of her career and then worked for the Hot Springs Rehabilitation Center as a RN, CRRN, and department head. Barbara devoted her life to serving and caring for others, most of all, to her one true love, the honorable Sheriff Larry Selig.
Barbara, also known as Gigi, absolutely loved and cherished all of her grandchildren in the family; Madison Selig and Larry Michael Selig, McKinley Selig and Bentley Selig, Bailey Sanders, husband to Madison, Kennedy Dawson, Kaitlyn Selig, and Kyler Pearson Selig. Barbara also cherished and loved her two daughter in-laws Lynlee Selig and Amanda Selig.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Bert Menser and Evelyn J. Anderson.
Survivors include her husband, Larry of 62 magical years of marriage; her sons, Chris Selig and Jason Selig, all of Hot Springs. Additional survivors include her brother in-law John Selig, sister in-law Josie Smith and husband B.J. Smith. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that loved her dearly.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at a later date to celebrate Barbara's life, just the way she would want us to, at her home with her two sons, their families, relatives and friends.
Donations can be made to United Methodist Church in her name.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Memories of Barbara Sellig go far back. I worked with her at the Rehabilitation Center and have the utmost respect for the caring work she put into each patient and I learned more about nursing from her than I did in all the classes taken. She was and always will be a jewel now in the Kings crown. Prayers for the family. Teresa Fryar.
